A demonstration in mourning of the Virginia Tech shooting will be held at Solano College on April 16 next to the Peace Pole on campus. Students will lie on the grass for three minutes in silence, in memory of the shooting last year. It will begin at 12:15 p.m.

A lie-in of at least 32 students dressed in black will follow a short speech written by the Brady Campaign and given by a student, says Ellen Faden, the organizer of the event.

The demonstration is a part of the Brady Campaign's efforts to prevent gun violence. The national organization is over 10 years old and was named after James Brady, the man who was shot during President Ronald Reagan's assassination attempt. Ellen Faden is a member of the Brady Campaign and is focused on bringing it to Solano County.

Faden needs at least 32 volunteers to be a part of the lie-in. She will be posting fliers two weeks before the event and visiting the ASSC barbeque to recruit students. Anyone interested in being a part of the demonstration can meet on April 9 outside the 1400 building at noon to sign up with Faden. They will be briefed on what they will be doing.
