Despite the enormous cuts to funding, Solano College Theatre will continue to put on shows for the 2012-2013 season, though there will be significant changes. Instead of doing four plays per season as they have in the past, SCT will be doing at least two shows next year, and they will be more student driven with students working more on set and lighting design with the faculty running the shows.
The 2012-2013 season was announced at the theater unveiling fundraiser at Winterhawk on May 6. The upcoming shows will showcase a literary theme as works from some of the most renowned authors of all time will be performed on stage. From Oct. 25 to Nov. 11, they will be performing an adaptation of John Steinbeck’s classic tale of migrant workers “Of Mice and Men,” directed by George Maguire. From April 18 to May 5, SCT will perform Alexandre Dumas’ iconic story “The Three Musketeers,” directed by Edward Hightower
The locations for these performances have not been confirmed yet, and if advance ticket sales are to be discontinued, then tickets will be sold at the door. Please continue to support Solano’s theater program, and The Tempest will continue to provide coverage of the shows in the 2012-2013 school year.
