SCC fire academy accepting applications

Solano Community College is currently applications for the upcoming Fire Technology Academy.  The Fire Academy (Fire 140) is a 720-Hour Structure & Wildland Firefighting I Program. The program begins Jan. 18-June 25, 2012.   The completion of the program allows students to become eligible for CA State Fire Marshal Certification as a Firefighter I and to earn 12 State Fire Marshal (SFM) certifications.  A mandatory Student Orientation is scheduled for January 9, 2012, 1:00 PM, Fairfield Campus.

To apply and register, students must contact the Vacaville Center, 707-863-7872 for an Academy Application.  Academy prerequisites are proof of Fire 50 course completion and CPAT Certification (Fire 83 will be accepted in lieu of CPAT).   Please note that the Vacaville Center will be closed for Winter Break from Dec. 23-Jan. 3, 2012. For more information contact Chief Richard MacKenzie (ret.), Fire Academy Administrator at 707-864-7000, ext. 4582, or richard.mackenzie@solano.edu
