SCC civil rights tour

Solano Community College (SCC) will host its third civil rights travel course (Social Science 53). Karen McCord, professor of psychology, social science and ethnic studies has hosted this course since summer 2008.  The nine-day course, titled “Journey to Change: The civil rights movement” offers an overview and tour of places that were significant to the South and the civil rights movement. The guided tour will provide opportunities during the nine-day course you can visit such historic places as Martin Luther King National Museum, Apex Museum, George Washington Carver Museum, Tuskegee Airman Museum Southern Poverty Law Center and much more.
The tour will  also  allow  participants to hear from many people who played a significant part in the civil rights movement. The group will travel through towns in Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee.

TOUR:
Depart—Friday, June 1
Return—Sunday, June 10
All participants must register in SOCS 053, Civil
Rights Travel Course. Students under 18 must be
accompanied
