With the PS3 and Wii becoming readily available, the sales war has begun!

On Jan. 22nd, at 6:30 a.m., a line formed outside Best Buy in Vacaville because the store was receiving 30 Nintendo Wiis. Within the same week, Sony Playstation 3's started trickling in to Gamestop and other retail stores.

With the initial craze of console releases over and these two consoles slowly becoming readily available, the real sales war between Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft has begun with their next-generation, now current-generation, systems. The question now is who will be the new King of Consoles?

The 360 comes out swinging with some advantages, the biggest being that it's been out for a little over a year. It also has a still-growing library of games, the most anticipated being Halo 3, coming out later this year with the beta of the multiplayer setup already starting up.

Two of the biggest, most renowned games it has out now are the acclaimed RPG Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and the third-person shooter Gears of War. Oblivion will be coming to the PS3, but it will only contain the game and some, not all, of the additional downloadable content. Gears of War is a 360 exclusive and the graphics and game play are hailed as true examples of what "next-gen" really means for video games.

The 360 also has some games coming out that were primarily Playstation brands in the past. Hideo Kojima of Metal Gear fame is developing a Metal Gear Solid game for the 360. Grand Theft Auto 4 will be available on the same day as the PS3 version and the Armored Core series, known for its customizable mecha on the PS1 and PS2, will be released on the 360 and PS3 in March.

Moreover, an anticipated game called Assassin's Creed, previously thought to be a PS3 exclusive, will also be released on the 360, taking wind out of PS3's sails and possibly crushing hopes of having some killer apps exclusively on their system.

The 360's physical measurement, however, is where it shows its weakness. It only has a mere 20 gigs, resulting in hard drives filling up quickly between music and video files, Xbox Live arcade games, and saved games.
