The Solano Community College volleyball team refuses to be content with a 2006 Bay Valley Conference title and is set to repeat. In the past two years, Solano has been on point when conference play has come around, with a combined record of 24-4. This year seems like it is no different, with Solano hitting its stride at the right time.

The Falcons are a young team this year, with only three sophomores on the roster, and had some growing pains in the non-conference schedule. Solano started with a sobering record of 4-3, due to the tough competition that was on the schedule early. Head Coach Darla Williams intentionally put the team up against schools that had a larger population, hoping to test the young squad.

It is obvious that putting tough teams in the non-conference schedule has paid off, as the Falcons have hit the ground running and remain unbeaten at about a quarter of a way through the regular season.

Solano had a 13-1 conference record last year on their way to the BVC title, and are looking to challenge that stellar mark as they have started this season 4-0.
The Falcons started the regular season beating Mendocino away and Los Medanos at home.

They followed that up with their third straight win against Contra Costa College in straight sets, 30-21, 30-13, 30-23. Lovella Asuncion had a good game, serving 14-15 with six aces and four digs. Ashley Tubb also did well, serving a perfect 21-21 with five aces and 11 digs.

Tubb, who is the team's Libero, did not play in their next game at home against Alameda, but the Falcons did not miss a beat. Solano once again won in straight sets, 30-15, 30-20, 30-17.

Asuncion had another great game, serving 18-20 and half of her converted saves were aces. Her nine aces led the team. She also had four digs.

With Tubb out, Noel Reddick had a good game, serving 26-28 with three aces and nine digs.

Solano is set to play Laney College at home on Oct. 10 at 5:30. Following up on Oct. 12 the Falcons will play Napa College in Napa, as they were the only team to beat Solano last year.
