Presently, there are some interesting works of art on display at Solano College's Herger Gallery. The exhibit, "Head First" will be up through Nov. 2nd.
"Head First" showcases, yes, you guessed it: heads and faces. We have 10 artists in the show. Most of them are exhibiting artists in the Bay Area," said curator Janene Whitesell.
The mediums range from oil prints, ceramics, bronze sculptures, photographs and prints. The Exhibition 60 class has chosen a wide variety of mediums and topics this semester, which makes for interesting viewing.
The photographs above are only small sections of the artist's original work--since the exhibition is still up, I don't want to spoil the fun for you. This is just a taste for you.
The artists in the show are:
Marc Lancet-SCC instructor, artist in Winters.
Ron Zak-SCC instructor, artist in Napa
Kate Delos-SCC instructor, artist in Berkeley
Hedi Desuyo-artist in Benicia
David Tomb-artist in S.F.
Kenney Mencher-instructor at Ohone College and artist in Fremont
Rosanne Engelhardt-artist in Benicia
Denise Fowerday-artist in Vallejo
Terry Miura-artist in Sacramento
Brandi Morgan-SCC student
The Herger Gallery is located in the 1300 building at the Suisun campus. It is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mon. - Fri. Admission is free.
Kudo's to the Exhibition Design class and Whitesell, as they have chosen a wide variety of mediums for each show and an interesting array of topics for their venues. Also, the way they arrange the artwork in the gallery lends itself to interacting with each creation. It is spacious, well placed and allows one to take each piece in without feeling claustrophobic, or getting a lot of competition from the work beside it.
