The American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges gave eight people the award, which is "intended for educators who have made outstanding contributions to mathematics or
mathematic education."
"Dr. Conrad possesses the rare pedagogical gift of motivating and challenging his students to the highest academic standards while projecting a very open and inviting demeanor so that students are willing to ask for help," Dorothy Hawkes, SCC math instructor, said.
Conrad, who has been teaching math at SCC since 1994, also received the Academic Senate Distinguished Faculty Award at Solano last year.
"Conrad has always been involved in campus activities since he's been here and has participated in every math department hiring committee since he's been here," division Dean David Redfield said.
"He's an extremely good lecturer and caring about students," Redfield added.
Hawkes said students describe Conrad as "enthusiastic, intelligent, hard working, and caring" and feel that he's someone who "brings a light touch to a heavy subject."
