What a week it's been since class was last in session, and the sports world has nearly toppled upside down.

In basketball, it took two future first round draft-picks, young and full-of-potential guard Devin Harris, three other players, and $3 million for 35-year-old Jason Kidd and two nobody players. I don't know what Mark Cuban is trying to accomplish with an aging point guard in the mix when you already have Jason Terry. It's a trade that doesn't make sense in my view: an aging superstar for a rising star. Anyone notice a problem?

Mike Bibby was trade to the Atlanta Hawks for four players and a second-round draft pick. He was the Sacramento Kings' last connection to the Adelman era, where the team always got close but never to the NBA Finals. He's back in town tonight, just one game after being traded. By the way, Kings won their first game without him; a 105-94 win against the Portland Trailblazers.

The best slam-dunk during the NBA All-Star weekend, and possibly of all-time, came from the Orlando Magic's Dwight Howard this past Saturday, and it wasn't really a 'dunk.' Howard donned a cape and Superman robe and did a running slam into the hoop. Here's the link: http://youtube.com/watch?v=rp__vGs3fa8. Enough said.

As for NASCAR, the 50th running of the Daytona 500 came down to a battle of teammates. Kurt Busch was able to push Penske teammate Ryan Newman to the lead on the final lap, and hence the Daytona 500 win, while little brother Kyle couldn't get to his Joe Gibbs teammate Tony Stewart in time. The result: Newman won his first race in over two years, and Stewart still hasn't won the big race.

And finally, in baseball, poor Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Kyle Kendrick couldn't see through the fact that MLB teams don't trade with Japanese teams long enough to realize a joke was being played. He thought he was being traded for Kobayashi Iwamoura. Remember, Kobayashi is the last name of the famous Japanese hot dog eater. Here's the link: http://youtube.com/watch?v=0nKKqPOiJxI

So to recap, Jason Kidd has finally been traded to the Dallas Mavericks, Mike Bibby was traded to the Atlanta Hawks, Ryan Newman gave car owner Roger Penske his first Daytona 500 victory and 1-2 finish in a restrictor-plate race, and Dwight Howard is the closest human being resembling Superman.

And all that happened within the week there was no class on campus. Whew!
