Solano Speech and Debate team capture National Championship

The Solano Speech and Debate team captured the National Championship at the Phi Rho Community College National Championship Speech and Debate tournament held in Chicago, April 14-20.
The Speech and Debate team took first place with four golds, four silvers, and two bronze awards.
The team comprised of Michael Holmes, Zack Poff, Jessica DeBolt, Kirstin McRae, Jake Poff, and Brittany Lee. They competed against 72 other community colleges and were able to advance to the final round in seven different events.
This is the second national championship for Solano in the overall sweepstakes category which combines points earned in both debate and individual speaking events and the fourth National Championship in Debate Sweepstakes.
