The Solano Falcons softball team will go into the playoffs with their third straight Bay/Valley conference title under their belts.
The Falcons finished the season with a 31-17 record overall and 17-1 BVC record.
Head coach Terri Pearson-Bloom said that team is seeded 12th in the Northern California region of the state tournament, and will play against Ohlone in a best-of-three series.
"We've played good at the end of the season, they've played good at the end of the season so I think it'll be a good match-up," Pearson-Bloom said.
Several Solano players received Bay/Valley Conference honors.
Pitchers Kara Besseghini and Kelly Downing along with fielders Chelsea VandenBerg, Sarah Palu, and Lauren Wink received first-team BVC honors. Fielder Olivia Gutierrez received second-team honors.
Downing has been stellar this season. Her overall record is 6-0 with an ERA of 0.18. She hit .480 with one home run and 14 RBIs.
Downing said of the Falcons key points this season was "Just coming together and being really close as a team. For me it would be my perfect game." Downing pitched a perfect game against Mendocino April 15.
Besseghini went 9-1 in 11 starts with an ERA of .86, while in the batter's box, she hit .385 with 15 RBIs. Palu hit .385 with one home run and 12 RBIs and Wink hit .313 and drew 10 walks to lead the team.
Penelope Crouse-Feehan was named BVC MVP and Pearson-Bloom was named coach of the year. Crouse-Feehan hit .654 with six home runs and 33 RBIs to lead the team in both categories.
Pearson-Bloom credits the consecutive conference championships to "Putting together good programs year after year. Having good players who play well," Pearson-Bloom said
