The Puente Club on campus is in the middle of a fundraiser to send members to Haiti to help build an elementary school. President Arturo Castillo is determined to go and says he will get to put his carpentry and drafting skills to work, both of which he learned while at Solano. Puente means bridge in Spanish, and President Castillo went more into depth on the meaning behind the club.

“The Puente Club is an offspring of the Puente Program, which is a transfer program,” said Castillo. “The Puente Club emphasizes on leadership skill and community.”

Donations can be made at room 1427 on Wednesdays at 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and club members can be found at the campus at various times. You will receive a heart to sign that will be hung up in building 100 and donations are ongoing until May 25.
