Fridays home volleyball game against Mendocino College was rather short-lived as the Falcons dominated the match. Though head coach Darla Williams had no prior information of the skill level of the opposing team, they easily conquered each set, 25-12, 25-13, and 25-8.
“We weren’t really sure what to expect,” commented Coach Williams. “All we knew is that they lost to a team we had previously beaten.”
The Falcons played well even with the changes they had made prior to the game, playing Samantha Neveadomi as a middle hitter rather than her normal position as an outside hitter.
“Sam played really well today,” said Coach Williams. “She was really nervous at first because she has never played as a middle hitter in a match before. She ended up playing better than even she expected getting 10 kills.”
Runners up to Neveadomi’s 10 kills are Sadieann Neri with 7 total kills and Tatum Bales and Samantha Dean with 6 kills each. The Falcons also did well on serves having Allyson Taynton go 14-14 and Alyssa Rowland going 12-12 with 4 aces.
Despite the teams great playing and communication, Coach Williams still insists that there is more that they can improve on.
“There are always things we can improve on and ways we can better ourselves as a team,” said Williams. “All we can do is improve and work hard to better ourselves so we can continue to win.”
