FAIRFIELD — Solano Community College loses to Yuba College 3-1.
Solano Community College’s women’s volleyball team recently went up against Yuba College this past September 21. Despite a good showing, the Falcons were not able to hold it down, losing 25-18, 25-17, 15-25, and 25-17 to the 49ers.
First set started off, Yuba having taken the first lead, but the Falcons kept it close. However, the 49ers would go on to take a more commanding lead taking the set 25-18. Solano would lose out to Yuba’s tipped balls and gave six points away to Yuba purely off of outs.
In the second set, the 49ers once again took the first point and the early lead. Good plays came off of Lainey Brown and beautiful digs by Sarah Cabales, but Yuba’s blocking would come into play and gave Yuba the set 25-17. The Falcons had more missed blocks and spike opportunities, not taking advantage of Yuba’s free balls.
During the third set, Yuba looked to try and take the game in a 3-0 set while the Falcons were hungry and needed a win. Solano finally caught on to the tip balls Yuba was doing, punishing Yuba and won the set 25-15.
Fourth and final set, Yuba won 25-17. With a good hustle on both sides, Yuba would overall come out on top and won the game.
Coach Monica Bustos says “Well, unfortunately, we didn’t play as well as we could have against Yuba. The team has so much potential, and I have no doubt that they will work hard to overcome this obstacle so they can come out on top”. The team looks to move on from this game and use it as motivation.
Solano’s next game is at home on October 3rd vs. Los Medanos at 6:00pm.
